1:20 BALLYMORE NOVICES’ HURDLE
BOB OLINGER 11/8 won the Novice Hurdle easily from Blue Lord in January and Blue Lord looked to be heading for second in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle on Tuesday before an error at the last. Rachael Blackmore rides and she is a pretty good judge. I can see no other value. Sure to go well again with more in the pipeline.
1:55 BROWN ADVISORY NOVICES’ CHASE
MONKFISH 2/5 has been faultless in three chase wins and his hurdling ability was top class as a winner of the Albert Bartlett. He respects fences much more than hurdles, if all goes well he should be hard to stop. Monkfish is head and shoulders above everyone else here. Monkfish is special and I don’t see anyone else coming close to him. We have not seen the best of yet and the trip will bring out improvement in him. He can chase the favourite home. He jumps well, has class and it will take him underperforming for him to suffer defeat here.
2:30 CORAL CUP
MONTE CRISTO 14/1 Nicky Henderson has won this race for the last two years. It was MONTE CRISTO that stood out as the one with the potential to be much better than his mark of 145. With only four runs under his belt for the master of Seven Barrows, he put a disappointing seasonal debut at Aintree on the soft ground behind him when winning at Kempton last time on better ground to suggest he may have any amount of improvement in hand.

3:05 CHAMPION CHASE
CHACUN POUR SOI 5/6 It’s a shame for Cheltenham with the late withdrawal of four time Festival victor Altior, but it is still a great contest.
This is the ideal opportunity for CHACUN POUR SOI to get a first Champion Chase win on the board for Willie Mullin who a first victory in the Champion Chase what is a rare big race omission. CHACUN POUR SOI has been utterly dominant in this division in Ireland but is yet to experience the unique test of Cheltenham. Arkle winner Put The Kettle On may be overpriced with excellent course and distance form to her name. Some doubts over a weaker finish up the hill, but should win the race for Mullins.
3:40 CROSS COUNTRY CHASE
TIGER ROLL 5/1 EW Twice victorious in this race prior to Grand National victories in 2018 and 2019. However, left trailing by Easysland in last year’s renewal of this contest and below his best in 3 starts this season. Expect that Tiger Roll, specialist over the Cross County course at Cheltenham will place with a win a very special bonus for this loved horse.
4:15 GRAND ANNUAL
CHOSEN MATE 8/1 Jordan Gainford takes the reigns is a young jockey with a very bright future on what we have seen of him. He is a relative unknown to punters in the UK, but he has been causing quite a stir in Ireland and has managed to ride six winners this season. He has picked up a choice ride now with last year’s winner CHOSEN MATE. Gainford’s 7lb’s claim almost gets this horse back to the mark he won this race off last year and I’m going to take a chance on him to win it again.
4:50 CHAMPION BUMPER
SIR GERHARD NAP 9/4 form is very strong coming into Cheltenham. His win at Down Royal was quick on the clock and if the switch on stables doesn’t impact him, then he might be able to turn over Kilcruit. Willie Mullins is looking for an 11th win in this race and with the move of the Cheveley Park Stud horses from Gordon Elliott two weeks ago he now adds SIR GERHARD to his already strong hand. Another winner here for Rachael Blackmore.
